Konstantin Varand appointed General Director at BUSINESS ALLIANCE

On July 1 BALC’s Board of Directors relieved Alexey Akindinov of the position of General Director of ZAO “BUSINESS ALLIANCE” and OAO KMLC “Otkritie” and appointed Konstantin Varand as the new head of BUSINESS ALLIANCE Group of Leasing Companies.

Konstantin Varand was born in 1964. He graduated from the Moscow State University and Krasnoyarsk State University, majoring in law. Then he held senior positions in a number of financial and law firms. In 2003-2008 Mr. Varand was the Deputy Head of the Invest Policy and Corporate Finances Department of RAO UES of Russia. In this role he was responsible for funding and monitoring power generating facilities construction as well as legal support of investment and development projects. In 2009 he joined BALC’s team as the Deputy General Director of Economics & Finance and member of The Board.

While commenting his appointment, Mr. Varand noted: “The change of the top management doesn’t mean the change of BALC’s strategy. The Group will continue close cooperation with large companies, mostly Russian energy and grid corporations, on infrastructural big-ticket deals. Similarly, the Group keeps on developing leasing products for small and medium enterprises and, together with RUSNANO, financing Russian companies which develop productions based on nanotechnologies”.
